Question

Are wedge heeled tennis shoes comfortable? I see you wearing them, and thought they would be a little more dressy. I’m pretty casual about wearing hoodies, and jeans and I would like an updated look for a change. – Shirley

Lisa Says

Hi Shirley,

Yes! Wedge heel sneakers can be very comfortable! It depends on the construction and heel height in the shoe. The Bucco wedge sneakers I have are extremely comfortable. They are 2-2 1/2 inch heels if measured at the back of the shoe. The Nine West pair I have are really well made. They are pretty comfortable, and about 4 inches at the back of the shoe. The Renvy wedge sneakers I have are some of my favorites. They are the highest at 4 1/2 inches at the back, (with a little bit of a platform in front). They are pretty comfortable for their height, but very high.
I am telling you all that to help you get a starting point when you shop. Wedge sneakers are a great way to add a little more of a finished look to your casual outfits. Just make your pants are the right length!

Good luck Shirley, I hope that helps!

Question

Loved your blog regarding white blouses. My question is how do you keep your wraps from falling off of your shoulder? I’ve seen a couple on you that looked beautiful. Also want to thank you for including, a sort of older woman in your blog, being an older woman myself. Thanks for your help, Lisa! – Meg

Lisa Says

Hi Meg,

Getting a wrap to stay put on your shoulder can be tricky. Here are a few things to keep in mind. The larger wraps work much better. For example, the red one I wear is 55′ square. The larger the wrap, the more it has the weight to help it stay. Also know that texture makes a difference. The suede one I wore in the picture is a real suede, so it has texture on the underside that helps it stay in place against the shirt. It does take a little practice to get used to it, but it’s a great look and always nice to have a lightweight wrap around when you’re chilly.

  •  Look for a larger wrap
  •  Look for one that is a woven or texture
  • Look for one that has some weight.

Hope that helps, Meg!

Question

I have two questions! I loved the shoes in your packing for LA story. What brands are they? I am starting to shop for sandals (flats and wedges). What styles, brands etc. should I be looking for? – Kasey

Lisa Says

Hi Kasey,

The shoes I packed for L.A. are some of my favorites. It’s important to take things you have already tried and already love. Otherwise, you may end up with surprises when you get there – they may not be comfortable to wear all day or may not be the quality that you need if you’re going to be wearing them a lot.

I took my wedge sneakers by Renvy for when I wanted to look a little taller but not too dressy.

I wore my favorite Moto boots on the plane. They are by Republic. It is always a good idea to have something extremely comfortable for traveling or sightseeing.

I took my favorite Gucci boots for when I wanted to be a little dressier. I have had them forever. They are comfortable and will go with a dress or leggings.

The other question about sandals for summer is a good one. I’ll do a whole post on that on its own. It will need some space for pictures 🙂

Hope that helps Kasey!
