CoolSculpting

Here are some of the questions you asked about CoolSculpting. I hope this helps.

What is CoolSculpting?

It is a noninvasive treatment to reduce small areas of fat on the body.

How does it work?

It freezes the fat cells and breaks them down so they are flushed out gradually over the next 2 months.

How long does it take?

It takes an hour for each area.

Does it hurt?

It did not hurt. There were a few minutes of minor discomfort but it was not bad and was very brief.

Who is it for?

It is ideal for people who are generally in good shape, exercise regularly and eat well, but cannot get rid of a few stubborn areas.

Does it work?

It has been very effective for a lot of people. I will see how it works for me in a couple months!

What was your experience like?

First I had a consultation with the nurse to discuss what areas I would consider and have her give me an informed opinion on what areas this would be the best option for. I set up an appointment and when I showed up we started out with the usual paperwork and pictures all the way around the area to be treated. (God willing, no one will ever see those pictures!)

We went back to the treatment room. The nurse said, “I am going to put a cold patch on you.” She applied a large, wet cold patch to the area to be treated. She wasn’t kidding, it was really cold! Then she attached the machine to the area to be treated. It pulls the fat into it, (about as much as a stick of butter). They prop it up with pillows and make you comfortable. I could feel it pulling for a few minutes, then I could not feel it at all. I sat for an hour and kept myself entertained while it worked. After an hour, they came in and disconnected the machine. I could see that the area treated was kind of frozen and raised a little. Then they took another machine, that was very loud, and worked on that area to smooth it out again.  I could feel it around the edges where my skin was not numb. But it was not bad and only lasted a few minutes. Both machines were noninvasive, and I was not in pain at all. They repeated the same procedure on the other side and then I simply got dressed and went home. I am a little tender in the areas treated, but I do not notice unless I accidentally hit it with something or something like that. After 2 days it is barely noticeable. I am supposed to be drinking a lot of water to help the process. I should probably do that anyway 🙂 There were no special post procedure instructions. I went back to working out the next day.

There are a number of different options out there if you are interested in spot reducing and want something non-invasive. I liked this option because it was done by someone I trust, Dr. Eric Bernstein. I think it is important when ever you are having something done to go to someone who really knows what they’re doing! I also liked the fact that this was less expensive then some of the other options. I considered this option and others of a similar or lower price and thought this one seemed to have the best results. I also talked to a number of people who had had it done and they did not report anything that I thought was scary! 🙂

We live in an age where there are options that have never been available before. It is good to know that you do not have to have surgery to have a chance at addressing something that bothers you.

So there you have it. Not scary, nothing major, I hope that this helps you if you’re interested in options 🙂
