All About the Cruise

At my age, there is still something I have never done. What is it? A cruise!

I love to travel (I’m sure you noticed) but in all my travels over the years,  I’ve never been on a cruise. You know why?…. Hmmmm…..yeah, I don’t really know why either, but I say it’s high time! I thought there would be no better way to spend my first cruise than with a bunch of my friends, so I hope you can come!

You and I have spent a lot of time together in our own way. We’ve hung out on TV for the last 20 years, shared our lives on FB and Instagram, met for tea, and just generally been there for each other in good times and bad. I feel like in the last few years we have really become a part of each other’s lives. You’ve been such wonderful and supportive friends and I appreciate it more than I can say. So let’s meet up, share a wonderful week on the high seas, strengthen our friendship and have a great time!

I am really looking forward to it because we have the most AMAZING group of strong, inspirational, beautiful, kind, and funny women (and men too!), and I know you will meeting each other too! Many of you talk to one another every day on fb, celebrating each other’s accomplishments, and encouraging each other through the tougher times. I think the power of meeting in person will be even more incredible, and hopefully we will all leave this cruise with lots of new friends!

Now, let’s get into some of the logistics (keep in mind, we don’t have everything 100% ironed out, but we have a great start!)

When?

The cruise ship will depart Miami on 3/31/19 and return to Miami on 4/7/19.

Where?

We will be cruising to the Western Caribbean. We will make stops in Roatan, Honduras, Belize, Cozumel, and Costa Maya.

Harvest Caye, Belize
Cozumel, Mexio

*I know there are some areas of Mexico that have concerns. . However, the cruise lines are very careful about where they go and it is important to note that, at this time, no cruise passengers have been targeted or directly affected by any violence in Mexico. If you would like to read a statement from Norwegian Cruise Line’s parent company, you can do so at the bottom of the page.

The Ship

We will be sailing on is the Norwegian Getaway, which is in the Breakaway class of ships. It looks incredible! Whether you love the spa, theater, pools, adventure (there’s a ropes course!), the casino, or great dining, there is something for everyone!

You can see all the details of the ship and take a virtual tour here.

Cabins

There will be lots of options available! There will be great options for at every price point, including special options for solo travelers. If you’re wondering about payment, there’s good news there too! You will be able to pay for your trip in installments over several months.

Excursions

Each port of call has dozens of excursions to choose from. You will be able to swim with dolphins, snorkel in beautiful waters, lounge on private beaches, take boat tours, learn about local culture, hang out with monkeys and parrots, zipline through the skies, see the sights in an ATV or dune buggy, and much more! I wish I had time to try every single excursion!

Other Activities

We have so many fun things planned for you, I don’t even know where to start! Some things we’ll keep a surprise, but there will definitely be at least one formal dinner, cocktail hours, games, raffles, and more! You just might go home with some cool gifts you won’t be able to find anywhere else!  The whole group in the office here is going, so you’ll have the chance to meet the whole team!

Some Questions I’ve Been Asked

Are husbands/boyfriends invited? – Yes of course! The more the merrier! I think all the men who come will have a lot of fun, and don’t worry guys, there won’t be group manicures or anything haha!

With regards to traveling to Mexico: “Spokespeople for Regent Seven Seas Cruises and Norwegian Cruise Line, which are part of the same parent company, issued this statement: “The safety and security of our guests and crew is our top priority. Regent Seven Seas Cruises currently does not call in any of the zones that qualify to ‘defer non-essential travel.’ We always caution our guests in daily communications to use caution, be safe and be alert when going ashore, no matter the destination. We have strict safety protocols in place and cooperate with local authorities regarding security matters at the destinations our ships visit. Port and onshore facilities, infrastructure, and passenger security and services in destinations are strictly scrutinized prior to a ship call. In the event of any safety concerns, we have the flexibility to alter our itineraries as needed to avoid areas of concern.”
